They day is not even over and there has already been some sad news. My sister and her husband got the phone call this morning that his mom died. She had been battling lung cancer since last year. Just last month she went into Pitt Memorial for surgery to remove tumors from her back. The surgery had left her paralyzed and they had wanted her to do radiation 4 or 5 days a week, I'm not sure on the number. She opted instead to go home. For four weeks she was able to live at home surrounded by those that loved her and the comfort of knowing that she was at home and not at a hospital. It was there that she died. May she rest in peace.
I've always believed in the power of prayer, I believe in it now more than ever. The first thing I did when I got off the phone with my sister was to call our Grandmother and ask her to put in a prayer request at their church. She's calling everyone she knows to put in prayer requests within their communities. If you don't believe in God and the power of prayer, I'm not going to preach to you and try to convince you otherwise. But if you do, please pray for the Poplin family and the Gibble family as well as anyone else who is going through what they're going through.
